Volunteering in Simeon is a very rewarding experience.
Volunteers are a vital part of the service we provide and there are opportunities to get involved in various avenues such as care, befriending, gardening, DIY, fundraising and administration.
We accept volunteer visitors, such as young people undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh Award; work placements; international volunteers who work and live in Simeon for up to 1 year; and anyone who has a few spare hours.
In July 2013, Simeon was awarded the prestigious Volunteers Favourite Impact Award at the ACVO award ceremony. We were nominated by our international volunteers as they feel that our charity provides them with a range of skills from learning care work to improving their English.
“The skills we learn here are for life and whatever we do, and wherever we go in the future, our understanding of old age care will follow, making both us and the world a better place”.
Our volunteers and resident, Alison, are seen proudly holding the award.
